Pantera
Pantera is a popular heavy metal band from Texas. This four-piece band has churned out a slew of albums, beginning with their first major label album in the early 1990s, Cowboys From Hell, and extending to their latest, Reinventing the Steel, in 2000. In that time, the band has toured the world, saw the rise and fall and subsequent rise of metal.
Up to Vulgar Display of Power, Pantera's music was fairly strictly along the lines of classic heavy metal -- with singing and screaming in the vocals (although the screaming is more high pitched than is normally found in nu-metal vocals, for example) and the extravagant riffs and solos of guitarist Dimebag Darrell. However, Phil Anselmo's vocals in particular have developed considerably since then, becoming more and more influenced by the singer's black metal influences.
They have toured as part of the Ozzfest (both in the United States and United Kingdom) and with support from Powerman 5000.
