Copper Island is an island in Lake Superior comprising the northern part of what is often inaccurately called the Keweenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States of America, separated from the rest of the Keweenaw Peninsula by Portage Lake; it was formed by dredging by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Copper Island is connected to the rest of the Upper Peninsula by the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, which US41 crosses between Hancock and Houghton. The principal towns of Copper Island are Hancock and Calumet.

The Copper Island Classic is an ice hockey tournament contested annually between Hancock Central High School and Calumet High School, two high schools on the island.
