Rabbinic literature
Appearance
Rabbinic literature, in the broadest sense, is any literature written by Rabbis. It is better restricted though, to that literature which has achieved some degree of canonicity among Jews (or at least some Jews). In that sense, it would include:
- the Mishnah
- the two Gemaras, which together with the Mishnah make up the Babylonian Talmud and the Talmud Yerushalami (also known as the Talmud Eretz Israel or the Palestinian Talmud).
- the Tosefta
- the Tosafot
- the Rabbinical legal codes, such as the Shulchan Aruch (various spellings)
- possibly some Kabbalistic literature
- works of Maimonides/Rambam, and others
