Colepterida is a established sister group of Neuropterida based on phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequence data. However Colepterida lacks morphological support. The fossil record of colepterida is not documented.[1] Sub taxa include Protelytroptera, cleoptera, strepsiptera.[2]
