I don't think people take note of the "L." much. This page should be moved to Elaine Chao. --Jiang 08:57 6 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Sometimes the middle name is consistently used by the person and the public, like Pearl S. Buck, despite the fact that there's no other well-known person by the same name (hence not a specifier). But "Elaine Cho" seems to be equally common. Although I had never heard of her, despite being a Taiwanese as well, until I read about her in WP here. So I can't account for the popularity over a long term of time in the press. --Menchi 09:05 6 Jul 2003 (UTC)

I did a google news search. "Elaine Chao" turned out 756 results. "Elaine L. Chao" turned out 73. The white house site does not have the "L." listed: [1] I guess a move is to be made. --Jiang 09:14 6 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Ok, done. For the record, the redirect's history was:

You've noticed a lot of good stuff that needs some tweaking. You also have an apparent neutrality. You don't seem like an abusive type of guy. Are you interested in being a sysop/administer? Administership isn't work or labour at all, it just makes your experience in Wikipedia easier. It has made mine easier. We don't grant everybody adminship, because some will abuse it in a month, or even a week. Some had, actually. But most admins are not corrupted by, for lack of better word, the power. So, try it out, if you don't like it, say one word, we'll take the adminship away from you in a sec.

Ok sure. Thanks for the offer. I guess I might as well get fully addicted to this thing. :-) --Jiang 09:42 6 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Could you do one tiny thing? Say something on your user page, so when the other administers read it, they won't think you're secret police of the Soviet Union or Frollo. It's not a big deal. You don't have to do that if you don't want to. I'll make sure they understand that in my nomination. --Menchi 09:48 6 Jul 2003 (UTC)
