Psilocybe cyanescens |
Psilocybe cyanescens (Wavy Cap) is a psychedelic mushroom whose active ingredient is psilocybin. It belongs to the Strophariaceae family in the order Agaricaceae. They grow on or in the presence of woodchips and mulched plant beds (particularly under rhododendrons) and bruise with a bluish color, often still visible on dried stems. In the US, P. cyanescens has been found growing wild in the Pacific Northwest south to N. California, and in certain parts of Europe.
