Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals is an upcoming expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2 due to be released sometime around 2007. This expansion pack follows the other expansion packs, Endangered Species, African Adventure and Marine Mania. Extinct Animals also follows the similar Dino Danger Pack premium download. Though a promotional video for Windows Vista gaming for 2007 contained a few seconds of footage of this game, no official information has yet been released.
Leaking
In 2006, in a similar way to how the African Adventure expansion was first confirmed, Amazon.com listed a strategy guide for Extinct Animals under its listings. Curiously, it was listed as 'Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct (working title)', showing Blue Fang Games were still in very early production. However, in January 2007, Windows Vista released it's 2007 gaming lineup as well as a promotional video featuring a few seconds of footage, confirming the release.
Animals
Although an official confirmation has not yet occurred, there will be 20 animals included, as have all the expansion packs thus far. In a promotional video for Windows Vista 2007 gaming, a few animals can be seen. No official confirmations from Blue Fang Games have emerged on the names, biomes or species.
- Woolly rhinoceros - a relatively clear image of two brown rhinoceroses can be seen briefly.
- Smilodon - some kind of boreal forest creature can be seen, the long canines can just be made out.
- Pteranodon- a long bird-like animal can be seen flying over the wooly rhinoceros.
Items/Objects
The Windows Vista gaming commercial showed the following items briefly:
- Entertainer - there appeared to be a person dressed as either a tiger, red panda or Santa Claus doing a back flip and a guest laughing, most likely a new staff member to satisfy the guest's amusment score.
- Mammoth skeleton/statue. On one fansite someone took a screenshot of the few seconds that show a mammoth like object. In the screenshot it is clear that it is a skeleton, rather a statue.
- ALso the add-on pack DINO rampage may point to a few animals in the upcoming expansion.
