Thomas Matthew DeLonge, Jr. (born December 13 1975) is an American musician, best known as one of the founding members of, and guitarist/vocalist in, bands blink-182, Box Car Racer, and Angels and Airwaves.
Biography
Tom lives with his wife Jennifer DeLonge, daughter Ava (also the Angels and Airwaves inspired logo), and son Jonas Rocket (born on August 16th 2006 )[1]) and German Shephard Grey in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Tom DeLonge was raised by his mother and father in Poway, California. He has an older brother, Shon, and a younger sister, Kari. Tom was expelled from Poway High School during junior year after being caught drunk at a school basketball game.[citation needed] As Tom went to Rancho Bernardo High School, he met Anne Hoppus, Mark Hoppus's sister, which led to him meeting Mark Hoppus and the beginning of Blink-182. It was in Rancho Bernardo High School where DeLonge began studying musical theory. When he returned to Poway High School during his senior year, the students voted him Homecoming King, despite the fact he wasn't on the ballot.[citation needed] Blink-182 had a huge amount of mainstream success and lasted from 1992-2005. DeLonge and Travis Barker also participated in the band Box Car Racer, a side project created by Delonge. Soon after the break up of Blink-182 Tom started the Alternative band Angels and Airwaves.

Instruments
Tom has used a range of guitars throughout his career. During the early recordings on Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch as well as on tour, Tom used both a black Gibson Les Paul (visible on the Josie video) as well a sticker covered Strat (visible in the Dammit video) with a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge. He is most known for his Custom Fender Stratocasterwith a Seymour Duncan Invader Humbucking pickup in the bridge position. Fender released this guitar as a Signature Model, but stopped production as Tom ended his deal with Fender and signed with Gibson. While he became very well known for his Fender Stratocaster, he had used Gibson guitars in the studio after the early days of Blink-182. Since late 2003, he has played his Custom Gibson ES-333with a Gibson Dirty Fingers Humbucking pickup in the bridge position. Since the creation of his signature Gibson, he sometimes switches to a Fender Jaguar for playing live; It appears to be Olympic White, with a one-piece, black pick guard and a single volume knob. For example, in KROQ's 2003 Acoustic Christmas concert he used it while playing "Obvious". Both guitars have only the one volume potentiometer and one humbucking pickup. He is now using his signature Gibson ES-333 in an "Angels and Airwaves" version, which is white with a black stripe and can be found with the variation of off-white/tan with black stripe and matte black with gloss black stripe. Once in an AOL Session, Tom used a Custom Fender that was white with a black pickguard. The pickup was never specified, but has one volume control like his custom Stratocaster or ES-333. The guitar resembled a Toronadoor a Jagmaster.
