Patriot Bible University
Patriot Bible Univeristy is an independent, Christian based religious Bible College located in Del Note, Colorado. The campus was formerly located in Alamosa, Colorado and was known as Patriot University, before a name change and move to new administrative offices in late 2004.
The school's teachings have a Baptist background, but it is open to all students seeking Bible education. Patriot Bible University has been attacked and accused of being a diploma mill (or a degree mill) by several critics, largely due their granting a Ph.D. degree in Christian Education to one of their well known graduates, Dr. Kent Hovind, back in 1991.
This charge of ebing a diploma mill has proven to be untrue, as Patriot Bible University is authorized to operate as a Bible College and to legally issue religious degrees by the State of Colorado Higher Education Commission. The state of Colorado also has not listed Patriot as a diploma mill, otherwise it would not appear on their authorized religious degree granting list. See the State of Colorado's web site defining "diploma mills".
Patriot is distance learning based, has untraditional programs and low fees (monthly fees or by the credit hour), which may cause some of its critics to not properly understand that they are a legitimate Bible university.
