Cities on the Changjiang, between Wuhan and Shanghai

Jiujiang (Chinese: 九江; pinyin: Jiǔjiāng) is a prefecture-level city occupying the northwest corner of Jiangxi Province in southeast China. It is an important port city in the middle stretch of the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang), with a population of around 4,500,000.

Unlike the Gan-speaking majority of Jiangxi, Jiujiang speaks a variety of Mandarin.

Picturesque Mount Lushan, located in the south of the urban center, is listed as a world heritage site.
