Kermit the Frog was one of Jim Henson's most famous muppet creations (voiced by Henson himself). Kermit was a character on Sesame Street, often as a news reporter. One of his most memorable works was the song, "It's not easy being green". Kermit's song Rainbow connection was also a big hit.

Kermit was front "man" and the long suffering stage manager for The Muppet Show. He continually struggled to produce a quality program, for a sparse and disaffected audience. Kermit also appeared in several Muppet movies and spin-off series.

Kermit was involved in a on-again, off-again love affair with Miss Piggy. If Kermit could be said to have had a best friend, it would have been Fozzie the Bear.

He continues to make television appearances (for example, Hollywood Squares in 2001) long after The Muppet Show was cancelled.
