Military press
The military press is a weight training exercise. It is intended for the development of the shoulder, or deltoid muscles.
The lift begins with the lifter standing and the barbell held in front of the lifter's neck. The lifter then raises the barbell overhead. To bring the barbell to the starting position, the lifter can either clean the bar off the floor to the shoulders or take the bar from a rack.
Sometimes seated presses are referred to as military presses. This is a misnomer; properly speaking, a press is described as "military" only if it is done while standing. The military press differs from other standing presses in that no bend in the hips or back is used.
The difference between the Military Press & the Press (or Overhead Press), is that a Military Press is done with feet together. This is a tougher version of the Overhead Press.
