Deportivo Alavés, usually abbreviated to Alavés, is a Spanish Segunda División football club based in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country. They play at the 19,500 seater Mendizorroza stadium.
The team's home kit is blue and white striped shirt, blue shorts and white socks. Alavés reached the UEFA Cup final in 2001, where they lost 5-4 to Liverpool. Although Alavés was relegated after the 2003-04 season, they regained their top flight status in a year.
In the season 2005/06 they played in La Liga, but in a bad season they were relegated again to Segunda División.
