Antoine Henri Becquerel, French physicist. Born 15 December 1852 in Paris, died 25 August 1908 in Le Croisic, France.

In 1896, Bequerel accidentaly discovered radioactivity while investigating fluorescence in uranium salts. In 1903 he shared Nobel prize for Physics with Pierre and Marie Curie in recognition of the extraordinary services he has rendered by his discovery of spontaneous radioactivity.
