Catherine Patricia Mackin
I was wondering if someone would be interested in writing an article about Catherine Patricia Mackin, also known as "Cassie", to be published on Wikipedia. She was an NBC news personality in the 1970's, and was an important female figure in television journalism. Good information to start with can be found here, though I am certain other sources exist... http://www.lib.umd.edu/archivesum/actions.DisplayEADDoc.do?source=MdU.ead.histms.0100.xml&style=ead#overview She is referenced currently under the NBC News heading under Current and Past Personalities. She also worked for ABC, and won an Emmy for reporting there.
I was surprised to find no information linked to her name, and was hoping someone might change that.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Pumpkin65 (talk • contribs) 14:37, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hello. Thank you for writing and sorry for the severely delayed reply. For inclusion in the encyclopedia, a person has to meet the notability criteria. Basically they need to have been non-trivially mentioned in multiple reliable sources that could then be cited in an article to verify the information. The source you've given is very good, but it's the only one I could find in my quick look, perhaps you know of more. Best wishes and happy editing!—Elipongo (Talk contribs) 21:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

- Hello and thank you for your note and my apology for this delayed reply. For a person's biography to be included in the encylopedia, they have to meet the relevant notability criteria. I'm a HUGE fan of NARUTO, one day i want to see a list of Naruto episodes, then i tried to see a list of NARUTO 2 (Shipp?den) Chapters, which is the name of a comic episode. - Hello and thanks for writing and sorry for the delayed reply. Lists like these should only really be created for really notable films or shows. If you have several non-trivial mention in third-party reliable sources that you can then cite in an article/list to verify the information's notability, then you might have the makings of an article. Good luck! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 21:19, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Fort Ancient Valley Conference
Hello, I was surprised to find that this page was not created yet. The FAVC is a high-school sports conference in southwestern Ohio. It is the largest conference in the state and is made up of three separate divisions and 18 different high schools. The conference was named after [Fort Ancient], a Native American site in the local area of the charter schools. The conference's website, which includes a complete history, can be found here. Thanks to anyone who takes on this task.

Shoreside Clothing
I have no idea how to get this up but it's a clothing company that is pretty popular here in Florida. They were recently featured on FOX news [1] as well as Surfline Magazine[2]. Pretty much any information can be found on them at thier website shoresideclothing.com or shoreside.weebly.com. If you have some more non-trivial, third party mentions in reliable sources that you can cite in an article to verify the subject's notability you may very well have a nice little article. Shouldn't be too hard to create. I've never created an article before and I don't have the time to figure it out right now. I'd be happy to help or edit it, though. Here's the school's website: http://fieldschool.org/ Thanks, 08ashepa 00:23, 30 May 2007
- Hello; thanks for writing and sorry for the delayed reply. It seems there was already an article with that name but it was deleted with a deletion summary given as "Nonsense" [3].
- We don't write articles for you on this page, If you want someone else to write it instead of doing it yourself, please visit Articles for creation.
- I would normally advise you to make sure that the subject of your article meets the notability criteria, but there has been a running debate on whether secondary schools are inherently notable. If you can find any extra non-trivial mention of the school in multiple, secondary reliable sources, that you can cite in an article, you'll be a long way down the path of establishing the article. Good luck! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 20:16, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Afternoon,
I would like to create a page for the above after having a few deleted this morning. Other teams in our league have a page (Heriot Vale for example) and we would like one too.

- Hello and thank you for writing and my apologies for the delay in this reply.
- It can be very frustrating to see an article you've worked on get deleted, the key is to understand why things get deleted so you can avoid it happening. (Disclaimer: following these rules doesn't guarantee that articles won't be deleted, but it does make it more unlikely)
- To be included in the encyclopedia, a subject has to meet the relevant notability guidelines— basically an organization's information has to be verifiable by non-trivial mention in multiple third party reliable sources that can then by cited in the article.
- The deletion log for the article you tried to create says that it was deleted for being non-notable, so evidently you didn't provide what I described above.
- On another note, since you are evidently involved with this team, you should be aware of our conflict of interest guideline. You should avoid creating or editing articles on subjects that you have too close a relationship with. If the subject is indeed notable enough, someone will come along at some point and create it for you.
- I hope I have addressed your concerns. Best of luck and happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 00:48, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Online Food Ordering
Hi -- I don't see anything on Wikipedia that describes online food ordering. Could we start an article on that? I've written a quick stub below, but I want to get feedback from the community before I try to put it up:— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonbrodsky (talk • contribs) 15:21, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Online Food Ordering
Online Food Ordering is a method of ordering food for delivery or pick-up from a restaurant off of a computer. This differs significantly from traditional methods of ordering food, such as using the telephone. Advantages of ordering food online include: a) convenience; b) clarity of order, which is sometimes lost over the telephone; and c) instant tracking of the delivery order.
Campusfood.com, founded by Michael Saunders, pioneered the space in 1997 [4], and it was joined in 1999 by SeamlessWeb and Delivery.com [5]. There are many other companies that provide online food ordering, including the pizza chains Papa Johns and Pizza Hut as well as certain branches of the quick-serve chain Subway.
- Hello. This does sound like a very interesting trend and topic. There isn't an article on this subject that I've been able to find, so it does have potential. You should make sure that you can meet the notability requirements by being able to verify the information using reliable sources that you can cite in the article. If you've got that, you're off to a good start. Please let us know how this does, I am interested. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 00:22, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Worth Ranch
I'm planning on creating an article on the Boy Scout ranch located near Palo Pinto, Texas, in Palo Pinto County, I do know it was a ranch in the 1800s, that it became a Scout Camp in 1929, and held it's first summer camp in 1930. I know quite a few other trivial facts, such as the dissapperance pf "Charlie" in the mid 1900s after the three vehicle collision in the lower reigon of the camp known as the bottoms. There was a fairly famous brand (duly named the Worth Ranch Brand) that was used as a cattle brand when the ranch cared for cattle, that disappeared in the 1970s, and has yet to be found. Worth Ranch also has a quite a few stories in Palo Pinto Campfires.
I know more things but I need more information regarding things like History, Geology (Kyle Mountain, the treasured landmark of the ranch), and perhaps Mythology. Being a Boy Scout who has camped there many times, and loves the ranch itself, I would like to see an article on the ranch fairly soon, and if it could be started and added onto quickly, it could be something to read up on.— Preceding unsigned comment added by JabberJacob (talk • contribs) 02:01, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hello and than you for asking your question. I see that you have already gone ahead and created the article. What the article needs now is something that asserts why this particular boy scout camp is notable. The article also needs to have some citations from reliable sources, otherwise it violates the encyclopedia's no original research policy. The article may end up getting deleted if it dosent meet these requirements. If you need any more help, feel free to ask! Thank you. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 05:21, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Can someone please help me? Echickaboo99 17:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for writing. Yeah, sometimes that can happen to an article, especially if you don't know some of the inclusion criteria. To be included in the encyclopedia, a subject has to be notable, a rap artist would fall under the more musically specific criteria listed at WP:MUSIC. When you get to writing an article, make sure you cite reliable sources for the information you include. Hope this helps you. Happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:23, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Project-specific: Overview/history of why the current policies and guidelines came to be.
Wikipedia has an impressive amount of policies and guidelines, which allow it to function more or less effectively. Undoubtedly more will be added in the future, which will be shaped by those already in place. If you dig deep enough in the history of these policies and guidelines, you might find information on why they were created, and various other project articles might have mentions of the form "in responce to x, policy y was formed". But (as far as I can find), no global overview exists that places the creation of all the policies and guidelines in context. It's all scattered and really hard to piece together. The existence of a project specific article (titled Wikipedia:History_behind_policies_and_guidelines?) would seem to me to be a very useful resource, especially in the deep future. Newly starting wikis might also benefit strongly from this, as rather than blindly copying wikipedia's policies, they could examine the reasons behind the creation thereof, and make different (better?) choices for their specific circumstances. I think the most useful way to set up this article would be in chronological order. Something like "In April 2002, reverting wars (insert short explanation of what that is and how they came to be) caused the creation of policy X; this was found to be ineffective during the controversy of FooBar in June 2002, and so changed to Y", which would show how the policies and guidelines all organically grew, but a list of the policies and guidelines with a short blurb each on why they were created might also work; I don't know how much interdependency there is between them.
I would start such an article myself, but I'm a complete outsider to wikipedia, and I don't know anything about why any of the policies or guidelines are what they are (I'm sure at least a few were formed simply by "common sense" or "it seemed like a good idea at the time", but there must be real history behind many others), which makes it kinda hard to write any actually useful content on this subject. *g* I'm hoping that someone who does have at least some familiarity with it will see this idea here and actually implement it. (I can't request for such a page to be created under Wikipedia:Requested_articles, as that doesn't have a category for project-specific articles.) 71.57.109.108 18:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- That is definetely and interesting idea! I'm not sure, but is Wikipedia:History of Wikipedian processes and people pretty much what you're describing? Thanks for your ideas, keep them coming! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:08, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- That history page has a lot of pieces that I think would be useful for this overview as I imagine it, yes, although it also seems to be focusing on specifics (completely ignoring the more basic processes; might be that people here are just too close to them), and to assume a lot of prior knowledge about wikipedia from its readers. I saw a mention on that page of the "village pump". Would that be an appropriate venue to put this suggestion and try to find someone who has the knowledge to actually write a significant part of this article? —71.57.109.108 20:03, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the Village Pump can be a good place to find knowledgeable people, but I think a better idea would be to start a discussion at the talk page of the article I referenced above. The regular editors of that article are already interested in the subject and they may even know of an existing article on the subject that I didn't find. Let me know how it goes, I'm interested! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:56, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

I am currently investigating writing an article on Lewis A. Women's international rugby
Last week (13th June) was the 25th anniversary of the first ever women's rugby international.
There was no celebrtation of acknlowdgement about this because no=oene noticed. This is not unrelated to the fact that no-where on the wbe is there a simple history of women's international rugby or even a listing of international games.
Various part lists exist on some national RFU website, and there are lists of all World Cup games on Wikipedia alreday, but after a quarter of a century at least some sort of start needs to be made to the creation of a complete list of games since 1982.

- Very interesting! The earliest date listed in either the Women's rugby league or the Women's Rugby League World Cup articles is 1985. I think this subject would make a great addition to either of those articles, or to a new article if the scope of those articles doesn't cover the subject (I really don't know sports, so I can't tell). - Very, very nice! Quite informative and well written in an easy to read style. You might think about reducing your dependence on external links, that is unless your using them as references. If that is the case you should format them per the manual of style. Myself I prefer to use footnotes that are standardized by using the citation templates. The article does need an introduction, a short (about 2 or 3 sentences) blurb explaining the subject for people who just want a quick definition and don't want to read the whole article. The list of Internationals is deserving of an independent article, I think- you might consider splitting it off. You should also include some more internal links, for example to the Women's rugby league article which would seem to be related. All in all a really nice article! JRPT (Jacob Ramirez and "Potter Traina" is a show kind of like smosh in a way but is way different. it is about two 13 year-olds who make videos, some of them dont make sence but thats the point. they have videos on youtubeand have a website www.freewebs.com/jacobandpotter. Some people think that it's a cheap imitation of smosh, but its not, they do their own thing, but smosh was an inspiration.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.54.204.147 (talk) 22:02, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

The Blonde Girls
The Blonde Girls, a band started in 2006, ironically consists of three male members: Mike Arendt, Alex Dalgleish, and James Garrity. All of which were once members of Canadian Interference (CI) which had gained slight popularity around the Mars Area (3 time winners of the NCC Battle of the Bands). However, CI was merely a cover band, and was never meant for anything more.
CI was headed for nowhere, and it got especially worse after Martin Lamneck and Zack Lawton left to form the slightly popular Udo and The Stormtrooper. After this, it soon became obvious that almost none of the original members of CI had put fourth their best songwriting efforts.
Shortly after, Mike, Jim, and Alex started to get together in Mike's basement to jam where some very interesting ideas were formed. Pennsylvania has never witnessed a band of this great of magnitude before, but trust this humble bassist, they will be shocked.
The band has now played 4 shows and is now ready for more. If you live around the Mars, Pennsylvania area then please come find us!!!!!!!!!!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dalgleishx (talk • contribs) 16:29, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- That seems like a very nice start to an article. Before you start an article on this band you should make sure they fit the notability requirements at WP:MUSIC and since you seem to be a member of the group, you should look into the Conflict of Interest policy- essentially you shouldn't create article about organizations or people you are closely involved with. Thanks for your question and happy writing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:08, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Another character that is an example fo anti hero or the begining of heroism
I want to suggest an article about the character of the movie "Hero", also known as "Accidental hero", to add more information to the article list of anti heroes at the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fictional_anti-heroes#Film. This article could be started with the following coming from imdb.com ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104412/ ): — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.86.125.32 (talk) 22:09, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would probably be better to add information to the existing article Hero (1992 film) rather than starting an independent article at this point. The article could do with some expansion as it's very short right now. Remember to use reliable sources and to cite them when you make your additions. Tru-la-vis-tic
Trulavistic is the word i came up with to define something i cant find a word for.
Trulavistic The state of being when someone wants something but cant ask for it or it will lose some or all of its significance. i.e. Like when you are about to kiss a girl/boy and s/he asks if s/he can kiss you, causing the kiss to dither in affection. (not always true)
that's all, really.
if anyone has a word or phrase for this let me know :)
if not: then anyone agree with what i am trying to convey?
or, have a better word?

Company Information/Knowledge - Voyager Expanded Learning
Was wondering how or if we can place information about our company, Voyager Expanded Learning, as I've seen other companies mentioned such as Fujitsu_Limited or even just Fujitsu. We're an educational publishing company, and I don't want to infringe on the "advertisement" term, but believe our company provides information worthy to discussion and knowledge. Not to mention, we're already mentioned within Wikipedia at least once on the World Maths Day.
Thanks!

- Hello and thanks very much for taking the time to write and ask about this. First of all, for inclusion in the encyclopedia a company has to meet the relevent notability criteria, basically the company has to have been non-trivially mentioned in [[WP:V|reliable] third party sources. Also since you are associated with the company, you should be aware of our conflict of interest guideline, it is frowned upon for people directly associated with a person or organization to create or edit articles about that person or organization. If your organization is notable enough, someone else will eventually create it for you.
- An alternative you might consider is that since you are a subsidiary of ProQuest, you might suggest expansions to that article. Your conflict of interest still applies, so the accepted course is to go to the article's talk page, identify yourself and your interests, and give the regular editors of the article some sources that they can use to add additional material to the article.
- I hope that this answers any questions you may have. Thanks again for writing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 22:32, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

- That sound like a very interesting bit of software. For a subject to be included in the encyclopedia, however, it has to meet our notability requirements. Basically the information has to be verifiable by reliable third party sources. If the software meets the requirements, you'll still need to create an account to be able to create the article because non-logged in users aren't permitted to create articles, thought they are allowed to edit existing articles. Airline Ratings
I think jetblue is the best. Ygb6147 00:58, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think it would be very difficult to get an article about airline ratings to pass muster in terms of the Neutral point of view and Verifiability policies. You could add information to individual airline articles about how a reliable source rated them, if you cite the information when you add it. You can't just give your own opinion because Wikipedia has a strict policy barring original research. Thanks for your post and happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 01:43, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

IQ Creations is a multimedia production company based in London Bridge. Since its inception in August 2001, the company has developed and produced a number of television programmes, television formats, and industry events in the UK and across most parts of Africa. In collaboration with organisations like Optima Sports, Endemol and Screen Nation and broadcasters ranging from the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), to BET (Black Entertainment Television) and NTA (Nigerian Television Authority), IQ Creations has played a role in developing local formats, magazine programmes and securing rights to screen exclusive content to audiences in the UK as well as across Europe and Africa. Amongst IQ Creations’ portfolio of projects are the FIFA World Cup (Germany 2006), Big Brother Nigeria (2005), Screen Nation Awards (2004) and Nights to Remember (2004, 2005, 2006).— Preceding unsigned comment added by James Hanley (talk • contribs) 08:38, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- That sounds like a very interesting company. Before you start an article, though, you should make sure that the organization meets the relevant notability requirement for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Basically the organization has to have been written about non-trivially in multiple reliable third party sources for verification. If you think the article meets the requirements, go ahead and start it— but be sure to cite your sources in the article.
- Judging from the tone of your note, I would hazard a guess that you are associated with this organization. If that is indeed the case I'd recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. In a nutshell, if you are personally involved with somebody or something, you should avoid creating or editing articles on that subject.

- There doesn't seem to be an existing article for this person and the sources listed certainly seem to be enough for the subject to pass the notability guidelines. I assume that the external links are actually references? If so, they should be formatted per the citation guideline; myself I prefer footnotes. I do wonder, though, because of the mutual editing history of the two accounts, if you are not the same person as Judgefloro (talk · contribs). If so, you should read our policy on having multiple accounts; then, dependent on whether or not you are the actual Judge Floro, you should read the conflict of interest policy or our policy on inappropriate usernames. I think this subject has potential to be a nice article. Happy editing. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:47, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. No, we are not the same person as you will notice on our IP address. Yes, external links are references. Looking forward for the new article.
BhillyCastro 03:36, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- I must note that this qualification for "judge of the year" is a quite misleading statement - he was "judge of the year" for judicial "whiny garbage" conduct and being fired by the Filipino courts. While our biographies of living persons guidelines apply, this would probably still have to be mentioned in the article. The Evil Spartan 17:22, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

No, this has nothing to do with Big Town;instead, this is about a short-lived ABC-TV series that aired from September 1986 to January 1987.It was a crime drama set in L.A..Baldwin91006 19:25, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- That must be this show [6], that does sound like an interesting TV series. Since the series has an Emmy to its credit, that does make it pass the notability criteria.
- Now as for starting the article. You need to find some reliable sources so that you can verify the information you plan to cite in the article. For ideas on how to set the article, use the links in the welcome message on your user talk page, they're VERY helpful. You might want to also browse around and look at the articles of other TV shows for ideas on what to include.
- Don't worry if it's very short to begin with, lot of articles start off that way. Simply tag it as a stub by putting {{US-tv-prog-stub}} at the bottom of the page. Happy editing and stop back and let us know how it goes!—Elipongo (Talk contribs) 22:12, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

This candidate for Congress in Maine is an established lawyer, Iraq war veteran, and one of the "Figthing Dems." He is a solid candidate with excellent prospects. People interested in the 2008 elections should be able to find out about him - he is running in what, although is currently a strong Democratic seat, has been a swing seat in the past. In the past 12 years, the seat has been represented by both a Democrat and a Republican - this trend could continue and Maine's First District will likely be a battle ground.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.58.202.57 (talk) 16:26, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

- Having said that, If you're talking about the 2008 election in the United States, that article already exists at United States presidential election, 2008. Hope that helps some. Happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:57, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Apple Tea
I wanted to make an article on apple tea but I need more info on what it is and stuff like that! contribs)07:59, 7 July 2007 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ducky3.14 (talk • contribs) 23:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- A good place to start to look for references is a library. In this case you might want to try some sorts of cook books. Searching the Internet using a search engine such as Google could also be helpful to find information, but a quick glance I took just now didn't find much in the way of reliable sources from Google.
- Doing the research is an important step in determining whether a subject will meet the notability criteria for inclusion in the encyclopedia. A subject has to have been non-trivially mentioned in multiple secondary reliable sources to that can be cited in an article to verify the information.
- If you don't think you can establish notability under the criteria, you might want to instead add your informatiion as a section to one of the existing articles related to Tea.
- Also, you might consider also asking about this at WikiProject Food and drink where people who specialize in these kind of articles might be able to help you out more in terms of sources and style. Good luck!—Elipongo (Talk contribs) 05:03, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
pretzel art
i like pretzel art. i can make any 2d figur out of pretzels24.150.172.201 03:58, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- That's a very interesting skill. A nice photo of you work might make a good addition to the Pretzel article. I'm not sure if it warrants an independent article, though. For a subject to be included in the encyclopedia, it has to be proven notable by having been non-trivially mentioned in multiple, non-primary reliable sources that can be cited in an article to verify the information. Cheers!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Elipongo (talk • contribs) 05:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

- Hello and thank you for bringing up this topic, it sounds very interesting. I think that the article already exists, though. Is the article Puja about the subject you're talking about? Thanks again for writing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:34, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
