The Judges of Vietnam Idol

Thần Tượng Âm Nhạc: Vietnam Idol is the Vietnamese version of the British television hit show Pop Idol. It is a talent contest to find a pop performer. Vietnam Idol is aired in summer of 2007 on HTV9, the official channel of Ho Chi Minh City, Sponsored by Clear, a brand of Unilever Vietnam, Lipton Tea and Closeup toothpaste as sub-sponsors. The show boasts to become an entertainment phenomenon and will change the way TV viewers experience reality shows.
The show is being locally produced by Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV9) and the Vietnam Advertising Company (VAC). New Media, a digital agency, is responsible for the official website. International modeling sensation Tommy T is the web host, along side superstar singer Ho Ngoc Ha, actor Johnny Tri Nguyen, and former Miss Vietnam Thanh Hang to populate the Voice of the Experts section on the site.

Auditions

Audiitions were held at the following locations:

Theater Round

The contestants that went to Ho Chi Minh City for the theater round were given songs from the judges to perform. Based on those performances, the Top 30 contestants were chosen by the judges to proceed to the Piano Show where the Vietnamese public will decide who will proceed to the Final Gala round.

Contestants and Hosts

On the June 27, 2007, the Piano Show began, with the Top 30 Contestants singing in Ho Chi Minh City for the Judges and the TV Viewers. The contestants are given numbers so that TV viewers can vote for their favourite(s). The Audience can vote by Phone or by SMS. Contestants were divided into three groups of ten singers with the top 3 vote getters from each round advancing to the finals.

Final Gala Round
