Field Dalling
Field Dalling is a small village, situated about 4 miles west of Holt in the North Norfolk district of Norfolk in England and about three miles from the coast. The village had a population of 273 inhabitants according to the 2001 census. Field Dalling is part of the parish of Field Dalling and Saxlingham, Saxlingham being only 1 mile east of the village.
The village has had a slow demise in local services over the years with amongst other things the local primary school which closed in 1977, the local pub closing in 1986 and the local post office and shop had closed down by the end of the 1990s. Apart from the church, the playground/recreation area and the village hall are the only amenities left in Field Dalling today. In the past there was also a bigger playing field, a football team and a reading room.
In 2007 the village was at the centre of a local bomb scare when a man found what at the time seemed to be an explosive device in his back garden though after taking it to the police station in nearby Fakenham, police declared the device safe.
