Carlos Paredes fullname Carlos Humberto Paredes Monges (born July 16, 1976 in Asunción, Paraguay) is a Paraguayan football midfielder, who currently plays for Sporting CP of the Portuguese Superliga.
Paredes started his career in Club Olimpia of Paraguay in 1995, winning five national championships and becoming the youngest captain in the club's history at the age of 20. In 2000 he moved to FC Porto of Portugal where he won the Cup of Portugal in the 2000/2001 season. In 2002 he was transferred to Reggina. As of July 2006 Paredes plays for Sporting Clube de Portugal where he has been allowed very little game time despite his many talents and immense experience. Despite this, he remains confident of finding a deserved regular starting position. It is also expected that he will be made captain of the Paraguay national football team, after the retirement of Carlos Gamarra.
