Fabrizio Moretti (nicknamed Fab) is the drummer in the American band The Strokes.

He was born on 2 June, 1980 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to an Italian father and a Brazilian mother.[1] Moretti has a brother. He was raised Christian, but has stated that he is an atheist[citation needed]. He and his family moved to New York City when he was about 2, and as a teenager there he attended the Dwight School with fellow band members Nick Valensi, Julian Casablancas, and Nikolai Fraiture.

Trivia

  • Moretti dated Drew Barrymore from 2002 until January 2007, after they met backstage during a Strokes concert. Rumors of engagement arose several times, but the wedding never happened and in an interview, Moretti once stated that he believes "...marriage is not anything that will secure the future of your relationship,”[This quote needs a citation] and therefore plans to never get married.

  • Despite living in New York City since a tender age, Moretti speaks Portuguese quite well and has done some interviews on Brazilian TV.
  • A trademark of Moretti's is his vintage Coca Cola shirts. Another is the use of Ahead drum sticks.
  • He is 1.78m-5'10
  • He was a heavy smoker but has since quit smoking.
  • He has played the drums since age 3.
  • Jonathan from The Parks, described Morreti as 'a real influence to my drumming technique to this very day.'
  • In one of The Strokes' concerts, during the track "Ask Me Anything" Julian Casablancas uses the lyrics "God is trying to talk to Fab" as a potential insult, due to him claiming to be an Atheist.
  • In his song 'Carolina' from the album 'Gemstones' (2005) Adam Green mentions Fab Moretti.

'California presidente Cogi mucho estoy cansado Dostoevsky, Fab Moretti Antiseptic, complimentary'
