George Plimpton

George Plimpton (1927 - September 25, 2003) was an American journalist, writer and actor.

He is famous for competing in real sporting events, such as baseball's All-Star game, and a boxing match against Sugar Ray Robinson, while on assignment for Sports Illustrated. Plimpton has appeared in a number of feature films, as extras and cameos.

He also reported from the scene of the Robert Kennedy assassination.

Plimpton was editor of the literary journal Paris Review since 1954.

Plimpton died at his apartment in New York City at the age of 76.
