Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! is an animated children's television series created by Bob Boyle (who also created Yin Yang Yo!), produced by Bolder Media (a joint-venture between Frederator Studios and the Mixed Media Group) and Film Roman/Starz. It is animated, as are many newer cartoons in the 2000s, using Adobe Flash software. Bob Boyle, Susan Miller and Fred Seibert are the executive producers, and the technical director is David Sandford.
Debuting in the United States on Nick Jr. on August 28, 2006, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! is a comedy show for pre-schoolers. On June 9 of that year, Nick Jr. launched the Wow! Wow! Wubbzy website in conjunction with Frederator Studios and Mixed Media Group, released previews of the show online through video podcasting (or, as Bolder Media has dubbed it, The Wubbcast. In addition, the site includes three games (Wubbzy ring toss, for example), recipes like marshmallow lasagna, coloring pages and other fun stuff.
Main Characters
- Wubbzy (voiced by Grey DeLisle) - A yellow gerbil-like creature. The titular character, Wubbzy is yellow rectangular-like with a uniquely unusual (some would say "kooky"; others would say it is more "wacky" than "kooky") tail. He has a child-like fascination with life, and his favorite past time is playing kickety-kick ball. His daily travels throughout Wuzzleburg and its environments often result in his response, "Wow, Wow, Wow!"
- Widget (voiced by Lara Jill Miller) - A pink rabbit-like creature. Whenever there is a problem that needs to be fixed, she replies with her catchphrase, "No problemo!" She can fix and invent an endless stream of cleverly named devices (usually ending with a 3000), not the least of which are a robotic chicken that lays a hundred eggs a minute or a thirty-screen television (The Videotron 3000). Unfortunately, something always seems to go wrong, which usually results in her trademark reply, "That wasn't supposed to happen!" She speaks with a typical Southern accent.
- Walden (voiced by Carlos Alazraqui) - A purple bear-like creature. Named for Walden Pond, this purple fellow is the bookworm of the group, constantly seeking to further his knowledge of anything and everything. He has knowledge, as the theme song refers, "about science and books and art". His adventures alongside Wubbzy and Widget often result in his favored axiom of "Very interesting!" Walden also tends to say "Yes, yes, yes" in lieu of just "yes". He speaks with a typical British accent.
