A Treasure's Trove: A Fairy Tale About Real Treasure For Parents And Children Of All Ages is an illustrated children's book written by Michael Stadther and published in 2004. The book has gained a following by people trying to decipher clues in the book to twelve tokens that can be turned in for one-of-a-kind jewels, each representing an animal in the book.
Synopsis
The book is about twelve forest creatures whose mates disappear after being crystallized by a dark dust that falls every evening. The forest creatures combine forces with Zac, the handsome woodcarver; Ana, his beautiful half-elf, half-human wife; and their timid, chubby, winged "doth" Pook to save the creatures and restore the dying forest.
Treasure hunt
Inside the book are clues to twelve tokens that are hidden throughout the United States. The tokens can be turned in for jewels that represent the twelve creature featured in the story. The total value of all twelve jewels is claimed to be $1 million. This style of treasure hunt is known as an armchair treasure hunt. there is one additional token, Pook As of June 21 2005, ten tokens have been redeemed by treasure hunters. The first token, a grasshopper, was found May 22, 2005 in Ricketts Glen State Park, Pennsylvania, by Jake Pultorak and his 4-year-old daughter, who quoted it as easy; the second, a snail, was found in Lake Anita State Park, Iowa, by Randy Pischel and his 14-year-old son. The third token, a butterfly, was found by Reba Morris in Natahala National Forest, North Carolina.
Kristen Seiger and Chris Gates, of Newton, New Jersey; and Fred Pacolitch,of Thornhurst, Pennsylvania, worked together to figured out the location of the Grasshopper token in James Baird State Park near Poughkeepsie, New York. However, as of June 2005, it has not been redeemed.
The Bee token, the Firefly token, the Ladybug token, the Caterpillar token, and the Hummingbird token are missing; a token is missing when it is not where it was origionally placed and becoming missing for a various of reasons.
