Ken Caryl is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 30,887 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 25.3 km² (9.8 mi²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 30,887 people, 10,911 households, and 8,357 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,223.1/km² (3,168.7/mi²). There were 11,045 housing units at an average density of 437.4/km² (1,133.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.45% White, 0.71% African American, 0.44% Native American, 1.78% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.67% from other races, and 1.88% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.66% of the population.

There were 10,911 households out of which 45.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.3% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.82 and the average family size was 3.23.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 30.4% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 35.4% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 4.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $70,052, and the median income for a family was $75,356. Males had a median income of $50,090 versus $36,173 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $27,931. About 2.2% of families and 2.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.2% of those under age 18 and 1.2% of those age 65 or over.
