Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country, released in theatres in 1991, marked the last of the Star Trek movies based solely on the original cast. In the plot of the movie, a historic Klingon peace initiative is nearly thwarted when Klingon chancellor Gorkon is assassinated, and Kirk and McCoy are accused of his murder.

The movie was directed by Nicholas Meyer and written by Leonard Nimoy, Lawrence Konner, Mark Rosenthal and Denny Martin Flinn.
