Tim Mahoney

Timothy Jerome Mahoney (born February 17, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska) is the lead guitarist for the group 311. Tim is best known for his single-noted riffs, and fusion of punk, latin, rock, and reggae styles. Tim went to West Side High School. He started on trombone before moving to guitar. In 1991 he replaced the original guitarist of 311, Jim Watson.

Guitars and Effects

Tim uses a wide selection of pedals. He uses Seymour Duncan pickups. He owns a wide collection of PRS Guitars. In one interview it is said that he has a secret guitar that P-Nut gave him as a gift, a Gibson SG. He also owns a Steve Vai Signature Ibanez, a Dime Bag Washburn and a seven stringed Schecter 7 that he played on the 311 track Mindspin. His most used guitar is called Blue designed by Bob Vessells. It has a tiki mask on the head stock and "Custom Built For Tim Mahoney" on the back. This guitar also has an extremely rare finish on it. The guitar itself is called Blue because it looks white but blue at the same time with special paint. His most famous guitar that he is often seen in shows with.

Tim was influnced by guitar players such as: Willie Nelson , Dimebag Darrell , Santana, Randy Rhoads, Jerry Garcia and Bob Marley.
