The Dawn of the Dead was the second film in George Romero's Living Dead series of films (after The Night of the Living Dead). The plot concerns a small group of living humans who, after the collapse of society because of a zombie plague, create a santuary in a shopping mall. Romero uses the film as a vehicle to satirise and parody consumer materialism. Followed by Day of the Dead.
