Fforestfach (or Fforest Fach) is a suburb of Swansea, Wales. It lies within the Cockett ward. The area is well suited to light industry and out of town shopping due to its proximity to the M4 motorway and several dual carriageways. There is a significant industrial Estate in the area with a range of light industries.
Fforest-fach is home to a busy out of town shopping Complex centred around Carmarthen Road. The shopping area to the north has existed since the 1970s and is now branded as "Pontarddulais Road Retail Park". The area to the south of Carmarthen Road, called Parc Fforest-Fach, has been developed more recently in the early millennium decade. It suffers from significant parking problems during peak hours. Some of the stores include Tesco Extra, Borders, Starbucks inside the borders store, Marks & Spencer, Boots, Argos, JJB Sports, Next, Clarks, Outfit, River Island, Currys Digital, The Carphone Warehouse, Pizza Hut and Thomson.
Out of town shopping complexes such as Parc Fforestfach in the west of Swansea have been blamed for the continued decline of the City Centre. Paradoxically in November 2006 a new Park and Ride scheme was introduced in Fforestfach to ferry shoppers into the heart of Swansea city centre.Fforestfach is also bordered by the small town of Cadle.
