Snuff film

"Snuff movie" is the term used for a pornographic film in which one or more participants are filmed being killed for sexual gratification. Though stories of such films have occasionally emerged since at least the 1970s, sometimes in connection with rumours of Satanic ritual abuse, no such film has ever been found. There have been instances of murderers recording their crimes, but this was for their own private use: there has been no documented example of any snuff movie ever being distributed commercially.

The idea was spawned from the Argentinian movie "Snuff", filmed in 1971 and released in 1975. It was originally titled "Slaughter" but on its release a scene showing the 'murder' of a crew member was added, filmed in a vérité style.

Snuff movies appear to be an urban legend.
