There are several proposed top-level domains which have not yet been approved by ICANN, as of 2007.
City
- .berlin - Berlin.
- .nyc - New York City.
Language and nationality
These proposals are centered on creating an independent internet identity for linguistic and cultural communities and they are mostly inspired by the success of the .cat domain created for websites in the Catalan language or about Catalan culture.
- .bzh - Breton language and Brittany
- .cym - Welsh language and Wales.
- .gal - Galician language and Galicia (Spain).
- .sco - Scots language, Scottish Gaelic language and Scotland in general.
Other
- .lat - General Latin American websites, similar to .asia and .eu.
- .geo - Geographical locations.
- .kid and .kids - Two separate proposals for children and family websites.
- .post - Postal organizations.
- .mail - A domain for e-mail networks, proposed to facilitate fighting e-mail spam.
