Phocomelia

From the Greek meaning (it's not a very tactful description, I'm afraid) 'seal-limbs'. Referring, of course, to the very short or absent long bones and (sorry about this) flipper-like appearance of hands and feet that can occur as congenital abnormalities (most frequently due to thalidomide, but occasioally inherited).
