Laurie Island
Laurie Island is the second largest of the South Orkney Islands. The first buildings were built by William Bruce in 1903 but he recogniced the islands as part of Argentina, that occupated permanently the islands in the world´s first antarctic base (the only one for 40 years): Orcadas Base. In 1908 the Uk re-claimed the islands, without caring about its previous decision, but the islands continue to be governed by Argentina.
