Svetlana Khorkina

Svetlana Vasilievna Khorkina (Russian: Светлана Васильевна Хоркина, born January 19 1979) is Russia's most successful female gymnast; winner of several world championship events and Olympic medals. With 1,65 m height, she is unusually tall for her sport, and her elegance and long limbs are a trademark. This meant that new moves had to be created to accommodate her height and exploit her strengths,- she has the most moves named after her in the Code of Points in gymnastics. The uneven bars are her specialty apparatus, where her long legs and graceful lines are put to good use. She is nicknamed as "Queen of the Uneven Bars." She has also posed naked for Playboy magazine, which created quite a scandal. With aspirations to become an actress, Khorkina has appeared in the American talk show "Rosie O' Donnell," and has also taken to the stage to as Brenda Venus, Henry Miller's last love, in a Sergei Vinogradov production. She also hopes to give back to Russian gymnastics in the form of coaching. However, right now she is more focused on becoming a mother as she is pregnant.

2004 Summer Olympics

Khorkina won the silver medal in the Women's Individual All-Around competition. Her final score was 38.211 with a 9.562 in floor exercises, a 9.462 on the vault, a 9.725 on the uneven bars and a 9.462 on the balance beam.

Won 3-time in a row the all around gold (1998, 2000, 2002-record tie with Nadia Comaneci). She collects 20 medals, 13 golds, 5 silvers, 2 bronzes, both wins and medals are all time records.
• Svetlana is 9-time world champion. She won 5 uneven bars title (1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001), won the all-around 3-times (1997, 2001, 2003 no male or female gymnast made it before)
