Andy Thorpe born Stockport in 1961, was a English Footballer who currently holds the title of record appearance maker for League Two team Stockport County, with 555. Thorpe joined County and made his debut as a 17-year old in 1978 and went on to make 380 appearances before leaving for Tranmere Rovers in 1987, however after just 12 months he returned to his beloved County making a further 175 appearances, he made his final appearance for County versus Peterborough United in the Play-Off Final at Wembley, before being released in July 1992. He went on to play for a host of Australian Soccer Teams, before returning; and playing for Doncaster Rovers for three matches in September 1997, before finally retiring, aged 39.
