PRQ is a Swedish web hosting company which became famous for hosting the BitTorrent website The Pirate Bay, Wikileaks, The Piracy Bureau, Kavkaz Center et.c. PRQ is owned by Fredrik Neij and Gottfrid Svartholm. Part of PRQ's business model is to host any customers regardless of how odd or controversial they may be.
Due to hosting The Pirate Bay, PRQ was the target of a May 2006 police raid.
On 16 February 2008 there was a fire at PRQ. No servers were harmed, just the power unit failed and burned. Many big torrent sites went down temporarily but most were back by the end of the day. This message was posted on their site: "STH3 is down due to a serious electrical problem (one of the UPS feeds literally caught fire (!)). We're working on restoring everything, although there's no set ETA at the moment. Call +46 (0)73 9691011 if you have any questions. Update: Servers are now beginning to be restored. Update 2: MOst servers are now online. There might be some disruptions later on however, as the HVAC is not at full capacity yet."
