?

Should we have a native Eastern Armenian speaker templete or will this do? I think that it should just be native Armenian and not include eastern or western. Like to hear other Armenians thoughts on my idea, or on ideas of their own.--Moosh88 20:37, 22 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think in this case there's too little difference (the "n" at the end of "andzin") for it to matter. However, I think "մասնակից" may be a better translation of "user", and is used at http://hy.wikipedia.org; in that case there would be a bigger difference, since in Western Armenian, the word is "մասնագիձ" (I think, correct me if I'm wrong). So far in Wikipedia, I've been following conventions similar to those on US/UK English spelling. Whichever spelling is used by the creator of the article is used in the future, except in cases where the article topic pertains directly to one of the two cultures. In the Armenian case, this would probably mean that any location within current-day Armenia, or any person that gained fame under the Soviet rule would unconditionally be spelled using Eastern, while with historical places or figures (e.g. Saint Mesrob), whichever is used by the article creator is kept. So far there haven't been any real problems with that policy, but at some point it would be great to formalise it, since I can tell this may become a point of controversy in the future. --Aramգուտանգ 03:49, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
