A Regierungsbezirk is an administrative region of Germany, intermediate between a federal state (Bundesland) and a district (Kreis) or equivalent city (Kreisfreie Stadt).

The sixteen states are divided into 32 Regierungsbezirke, ranging in population from 5.3 million (Düsseldorf) to 500,000 (Trier).
