Kara (South Korean group)

History

A new k-pop girl group produced by Daesung Entertainment who debuted last March 2007. They are known as the 2nd Fin.K.L. The members are Park Gyulee, Han Seungyeon, and Jung Nicole. They have won the Rookie Award for May 2007, and a Cyworld Award the following month.

Name Origin

Kara, came from the greek word chara which means "Sweet Melody", so they agreed to it as suggested by the Leader Park Gyuri. "We will bring happiness and hope with our sweet melody," said their leader.

- She is often called a choding which means elementary student, because of her appearance; the looks of an elementary student.
- Born and raised mostly in Korea but during her teen days, lived in New Jersey USA. She speaks very good English.

About Kim Sunghee's leave

This is yet, the saddest news of them all. She left the group because of the promise with her father. She promised to balance her music career and her studies, but due to her failed Entrance College Exam, her father's wish was followed and she left the group.

According to DSP, "The unfinished 2nd Album which they prepared for 6 months will not be released, however they will release a mini-album in April," An audition for the two new members who will fill Kim Sunghee's empty seat will start around mid-March.
