The Rastafarians are a religious people that believe Haile Selassie I, the last emperor of Ethiopia, was a living god. Haile Selassie, whose name before his coronation as emperor was Ras Tafari, was a practising member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

They trace the origins of their religion back to the Bible.

They are well know for smoking ganga, or cannabis, as part of their religious beliefs and for their long standing connection with reggae.
