Talk:Samuel Brannan

This just didn't sound correct:

"Brannan went to the mill and he recieved the tithes of the LDS workers there from the gold they had found in their spare time."

So I added the "as a representative of the LDS Church". I don't know if this is correct, but it is not likely that LDS would have been giving Brannan "tithes" (if that is indeed what he was recieving instead of perhaps payment for goods and services) unless he was acting as an agent for the LDS Church. As I understand it, Brannan was the bishop in San Francisco, and the highest member of the church in California at the time. Not too sure, as I'm a Catholic myself, so I don't know all about the internal workings of the LDS church. Gentgeen
