Dicaearchus

Dicaearchus (also correct in English Dicearchos or Dicearchus) (Greek: Dixaiarxos), Greek philosopher, cartographer, geographer, mathematician and polygraph, born: ca. 350 B.C., Messine (also Messana, Messene), died: ca. 290 B.C.. Aristotle's student. His work is almost lost. He made geometric constructions of a hyperbola and a parabola and worked mainly in the field of cartography, where he used among the first ones geographical coordinates.
