History
Renovation
Humble High School is being renovated to comply with Texas Education Agency current standards for class size. Bond funds will provide a new two-story classroom addition to replace the 40-year-old classroom wing. The school will gain 15 science classrooms, three teaching theaters, seven business labs, practice areas for dance and drill team and a new black box theater. Throughout the school, there will be new carpet and paint. Also, electrical, plumbing and air-conditioning systems will be installed. The campus is designed around "houses" to facilitate students receiving more personalized attention. In total, 103,000 square feet (9,600 m2) will be added and 355,000 square feet (33,000 m2) will be renovated. Currently, there are nine portable buildings at Humble High in which 450 students attend class. Five more portables were added in the summer of 2005 to accommodate new students for the 2005-2006 school year. Once renovations are complete, Humble High will have a capacity of 2,400 students without portable buildings.[1]
