Green manure is the farming practice of plowing under certain crops to enrich the soil. In many farming systems, notably in organic farming, animal manure, either raw, dried, or fully composted, is applied to the soil as a way of replacing nutrients and improving soil structure. Green manure accomplishes the same goal, using selected plants grown specifically for this purpose.
