Tate-La Bianca murders
Manson-Tate murders refers to the first wave of killings orchestrated by the Manson Family in what became known as the Tate-LaBianca Murders. Charles Manson ordered Charles "Tex" Watson to supervise the killings (as well as drive), which were to be carried out by Susan Atkins,Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian. The four Family members left their Spahn Ranch compound and arrived at 10050 Cielo Drive a few minutes after midnight on August 9, 1969. They proceeded to butcher Steven Parent, actress Sharon Tate (the pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski), Abigail Folger, her lover Voytek Frykowski, and hair stylist Jay Sebring. Dissatisfied with these murders, Manson personally supervised the August 10 murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. The killings resulted in a police raid in October at Barker Ranch, where the Manson Family members were arrested. The 1970-71 trial has been dramatized and is the source of many books, the most famous being Helter Skelter.
