The Battle of Geonosis is a fictional battle in the Star Wars universe. It was the opening battle of the Clone Wars, and was featured in Attack of the Clones. The battle occurred when Separtist Forces captured Obi-Wan Kenobi on Geonosis, and he was charged with spying for the Republic. Anakin Skywalker and Senator Amidala tried to rescue him and were also captured. The Galactic Senate granted Supreme Chancelor Palpatine "emergency powers" to deal with the crisis.

A group of about 200 Jedi were sent to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan. After battling the Separtist droid army, few of them remained, but they were rescued by the timely arrival of Yoda with a clone army grown on Kamino. Thus began the Clone Wars.
