Wiki software
Wiki software is a type of collaborative software that runs a Wiki system. It is usually a CGI script that runs on web server(s) in the World Wide Web.
The first such software was originated or created by Ward Cunningham. Now, many different scripts exist. They clone or enhance the original version. A list of these different Wiki script-variants can be found at the URL of http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiEngines.
The remainder of this article lists only the most popular Wiki scripts.
- Very Quick Wiki: Very Quick Wiki is a WikiWiki web clone written using JSPs and servlets and designed to install and run with minimum effort on Tomcat or some other Java application server.

- Swiki: Super-portable and easy to setup and use.
- PHP Wiki: PhpWiki is a WikiWikiWeb clone in PHP. A WikiWikiWeb is a site where anyone can edit the pages through an HTML form. All pages are stored in a DBMS and hyperlinking is dynamic. It's for collaboration, conversation and documentation all at once.

- MediaWiki - Custom-designed for the high-volume Wikipedia encyclopedia project. Uses a MySQL database backend.

- SnipSnap - Java based package that combines Wiki and blog concepts. Includes its own web server, but can be built as a war file for use in other servlet engines.
- Piki - A python based wiki, piki is a fairly basic, but simple and reasonably secure wiki, which is a quick and simple install.
- Pikie - Another python wiki, MUCH more powerful, allows you to do a website appearing wiki, implements several skins, and the browser may choose which one to experience the wiki as!
- Wikinehesa -YET ANOTHER python wiki, a bit more featurefilled than piki, less than pikie, and designed to me fasirly secure and very easy to install. Currently in beta stage devlopment and testing, not yet released.
- Wypy -STILL ANOTHER python wiki. This one is in an ASTOUNDING 23 lines of code! VERY minimalist function set.
- CLiki - "... A free collaborative hypertext authoring program, written in Common Lisp. Modelled on Wiki, it's free software using the MIT license ....
