Arthur Lyttelton
Rt. Rev. Hon. Arthur Temple Lyttelton was the third Anglican Suffragan Bishop of Southampton. Born on 7 January 1852 into a noble family[1], he was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge[2], ordained priest in 1877 and began his career with a Curacy at St Mary's Reading. There then followed a short spell as a Tutor at Keble College, Oxford before he was appointed the first Master of Selwyn Hostel[3]. In 1893 he became Vicar of Eccles and in 1898 ascended to the Episcopate. He was the Provost at St. Nicholas College (now Lancing College). He died at his home in Petersfield on 19 February 1903.
