2008 WWE Draft

The 2008 World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Draft will be the fifth annual (and sixth overall) Draft held by WWE. The Draft will be held on June 23 2008 in San Antonio, Texas from the AT&T Center.[1] The Draft will take place live for three hours on WWE's flagship program, Raw, which airs on the USA Network.[2] The Draft, for the second consecutive year, will occur among WWE's three brands; Raw, SmackDown, and ECW.[3] Every WWE Superstar, Diva, announcer, commentator, and General manager will be eligible to be drafted.[4] Similar to the 2007 WWE Draft, superstars from each brand will compete in matches to win a draft pick for their brand.
Background
The Draft was announced by WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon on the May 26 2008 episode of Raw.[5] During the announcement, he stated that every WWE Superstar, Diva, and commentator from all three brands were eligible to be drafted.[6] On the June 16 2008 episode of Raw, McMahon announced that his McMahon Million Dollar Mania would take place on the same night as the WWE Draft. In the McMahon Million Dollar Mania, McMahon gives away one million dollars to WWE fans, as he calls registered fans and asks them for a password, which is revealed early on Raw, and if it is correct, he awards the fan an amount taken away from one million dollars.[7]
