Irving Burgie

Lord Burgess was a songwriter, born in Brooklyn, New York in 1926. His real name was Irving Burgie. His mother was from Barbados and his father was from Virginia.

He is most well known for the song "Jamaica Farewell", of which he wrote the lyrics. It has been recorded by Harry Belefonte, Jimmy Buffett, Carly Simon and others.
