Nose picking

Nose-picking is the act of extracting dried mucus or foreign bodies from the nose with a finger. Although a very common habit, it is a taboo subject in most western cultures.

Nose-picking has a number of medical risks, including causing nasal infections and nosebleeds. Compulsive nose-picking is known as rhinotillexomania.

Question: is the "triangle of death" rumor about retrograde infections from the nasal area true?
