Albrecht Dürer (May 21 1471-April 6 1528) German artist, mathematician and writer.


One of the most famous and accomplished artists of the Renaissance period, Dürer was a polymath who, as well as being an extraordinary artist, wrote on art theory and studied and researched in mathematics.


Dürer worked in many media, including oils and various print-making techniques.


His engraving Melencholia I is notable for being an allegorical depiction of the main symptoms of Depression.
